Arsenal ‘breakthrough’ in Dusan Vlahovic transfer amid advanced talks for Juventus star

Mikel Arteta has turned Arsenal’s fortunes around since their dismal start to the season which saw them bottom of the table in the early embers of the campaign.

They could move into fourth if West Ham lose to Leeds and they beat Tottenham in the North London Derby scheduled for Sunday with Tottenham on Sunday.

The Gunners have submitted a request to postpone this weekend’s game due to high Covid rates in the camp, with a decision yet to be made.

If the match is called off, Arteta will have more time to consider recruiting as his team fights for a top four finish.

During this time, the Guardian reported that Arteta has stepped in to block a move for current Tottenham defender Emerson Royal this summer.

Talks were reportedly at an advanced stage before the Gunners boss stepped in to halt proceedings amid fears he could not adapt to his style of play.

In the end, Arteta brought in Takehiro Tomiyasu on deadline day, just hours after talks between him and Spurs broke down.
