Preamble

Morning, afternoon, evening everything. Well, we had a whirlwind yesterday, didn’t we? From 12-3 and asking for Bellerive to be stripped of Test status, to a hundred run-a-balls from Head, to the subsequent delivery of The Cam Green Promise, and that incessant questioning of what James Anderson could and would have done with it all.

Overall, Australia finished with 241-6 – a score most would be happy with after a full day’s play, only that it was achieved in 59.3 overs. It might not quite be foreseen by the chief executive’s wicket before the game.

Nevertheless, both teams hope to get things done today. For Australia, quick runs and a shot at England under the lights, and for England, fingers crossed that Bellerive’s wicket flattens, as the local promise goes.
